Security Filtering Preferences
Help Table of Contents

Depending on the preferences established in Harvest, Harvest Webstation filters results, determining what results you may or may not view. See Configuring Harvest Webstation: Modifying Program Preferences for more information on establishing preferences. These settings also affect how web security functions. See Security Filtering in Harvest Webstation for more information on establishing security settings.

The following preferences may be established in Harvest:

Looking up Patient Orders

  • Restrict based on patient's location: With this option enabled, a Harvest Webstation user will only be able to access patient records when the patient’s linked location is in the user’s Web Location Group. All other records are considered inaccessible.
  • Restrict based on patient's Provider/Restrict based on order's Provider: Selecting either one of these options disables the other.
  • With the "Restrict based on patient's Provider" option enabled, a Harvest Webstation user will only be able to access patient records when the patient’s assigned provider is in the user’s Web Personnel Group. All other records are considered inaccessible.

With the "Restrict based on order's Provider" option enabled, a Harvest Webstation user will only be able to access patient records when the ordering provider is in the user’s Web Personnel Group. All other records are considered inaccessible.

  • Restrict based on order's Draw Location: With this option enabled, a Harvest Webstation user will only be able to access patient records when the order’s draw location is in the user’s Web Location Group. All other records are considered inaccessible.
  • Restrict based on order's Order Location: With this option enabled, a Harvest Webstation user will only be able to access patient records when the order’s order location is in the user’s Web Location Group. All other records are considered inaccessible.
  • Hide inaccessible patients on patient list: This preference determines whether Harvest Webstation will display all patients that match the search criteria on the Patient Search Results page, even if they are not considered accessible, or if it will hide the inaccessible patients.

Note: The "Restrict" options (see above) options determine whether or not an order is accessible.

With this option enabled, the Patient Search Results page will only list patient records that are considered accessible to the user. Using this in combination with the "Restrict based on order's Draw/Order Location" options (see above) can be slow.

With this option disabled, a Harvest Webstation user will be able to view all patients, but will only be able to open patient records that are considered accessible.

  • Hide inaccessible orders on orders list: This preference determines whether Harvest Webstation will display all orders on the Edit Patient: Orders Tab page and the Sample ID Search Results page, even if they are not considered accessible, or if it will hide the inaccessible orders.

Note: The "Restrict" options (see above) options determine whether or not an order is accessible.

With this option enabled, the Orders tab and Sample ID Search Results page will only list the orders that are considered accessible to the user. All other orders will be hidden. Using this in combination with the "Restrict based on order's Draw/Order Location" options (see above) can be slow.

With this option disabled, the Orders tab and Sample ID Search Results page will list all orders, but the user will only be able to click hyperlinks (to view order detail) for orders that are considered accessible. The inaccessible orders are followed by a small "??" hyperlink. Click the ?? link to open the Security Reasons page, which lists order information and your security settings, along with an explanation of why the order is inaccessible. See Security Reasons for more information.

  • Hide inaccessible orders on Collection List report: This preference determines whether Harvest Webstation will display all orders on the Collection List report, even if they are not considered accessible, or if it will hide the inaccessible orders.

Note: The "Restrict" options (see above) options determine whether or not an order is accessible.

With this option enabled, the Collection List report will only list the orders that are considered accessible to the user, based on the ordering provider or patient provider, and/or the patient location. All other orders will be hidden. Using this in combination with the "Restrict based on order's Draw/Order Location" options (see above) can be slow.

With this option disabled, the Collection List report will include inaccessible orders.

  • Hide inaccessible orders on Reminder report: This preference determines whether Harvest Webstation will display all orders on the Recurring Reminder report, even if they are not considered accessible, or if it will hide the inaccessible orders, based on the ordering provider or patient provider, and/or the patient location.

Note: The "Restrict" options (see above) options determine whether or not an order is accessible.

With this option enabled, the Recurring Reminder report will only list the orders that are considered accessible to the user, based on the ordering provider or patient provider, and/or the patient location. All other orders will be hidden. Using this in combination with the "Restrict based on order's Draw/Order Location" options (see above) can be slow.

With this option disabled, the Recurring Reminder report will include inaccessible orders.

Listing Completed Orders/Orders in Progress

  • Show orders for providers in personnel group: This option only applies when Harvest Webstation users view lists of completed orders or orders in progress.

Enable this option to allow Harvest Webstation users to see completed orders or orders in progress for all providers in their Web Personnel Group, rather than just orders for which they are the ordering provider.

If restricting on the ordering provider (see above), only those orders placed by a provider in a Harvest Webstation user's Web Personnel Group are accessible.

When this option is enabled, non-providers may access completed orders for their Web Personnel Group via the Completed Results page in Harvest Webstation to mark the orders as reviewed, even if they are not the patient's primary provider or a CC Report recipient.

IMPORTANT: Non-providers are not able to mark the same results as reviewed if they access the order by performing a search for the patient. Primary providers or CC Report recipients may mark the orders as reviewed, regardless of how they accessed the results.

  • Show orders for Draw Locations in loc group: This option only applies when Harvest Webstation users view lists of completed orders or orders in progress.

Listing Unreleased Orders

  • Show orders for providers in personnel group: This option only applies when Harvest Webstation users view lists of unreleased orders.

Enable this option to allow Harvest Webstation users to view all of the unreleased orders they have placed, as well as all of the unreleased orders entered by other techs for providers in their Web Personnel Group. If this is not enabled, Harvest Webstation users may only view the unreleased orders they placed themselves.

This allows users to edit unreleased orders for other ordering techs who are at the same location and who are assigned to the same Web Personnel Group. That is, users who need to update their colleagues’ orders should be able to see all of the orders their colleagues entered, if they are in the same Web Personnel Group.

  • Show orders for Draw Locations in loc group:This option only applies when Harvest Webstation users view lists of unreleased orders.

If this is not enabled, Harvest Webstation users may only view the unreleased orders they placed themselves.

SSL Security

Enable the Reject unsecured requests preference to reject requests that are not sent on a secure connection. Requests that begin with "https://" instead of "http://" are using SSL and are secure.

If this preference is checked and a non-secure connection is detected, a page appears in Harvest Webstation that says, "You must use a secure connection to access Harvest Webstation. Contact your Harvest Webstation administrator for more information." It also provides a link to the secure site. If no secure site is available, this link will not work.
