Some of the troubleshooting tips help prevent connection time-out errors. Program Appears to Lock Up When Viewing Reports

Depending on your settings, Harvest Webstation may generate patient reports and other printable documentation (requisitions, manifests, etc.) in PDF format. In order to view them correctly, you must have a PDF reader program installed, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you configure Acrobat Reader to automatically check for updates to the application, then when you open the program, it displays a window that allows you to download and install any available updates. If this option is enabled, and if Harvest Webstation attempts to display a report in PDF format, then when the program opens Acrobat Reader to display the report, the Acrobat Reader update window opens, but it appears behind the Orchard application, and your machine maintains focus on the update window instead of switching focus to Harvest Webstation. Since you cannot access the update window to perform the update, it appears that the Harvest Webstation screen is frozen, though it is not.

To avoid this problem, Orchard Software recommends that you disable any preference options to automatically check for updates (Edit>Preferences>Updates). Depending on the version of Acrobat Reader you use, you may need to disable the "Show Auto-update confirmation dialog box" and "Display notification dialog box at startup" options, as well as choose to "Check for Updates Manually" or select "Do not automatically check for critical updates."

IMPORTANT: Because you are turning off the feature to automatically check for updates, it is your responsibility to manually check for updates to Acrobat Reader on a periodic basis. To do so, navigate to Help>Updates.
