Customizing Your Browser's Settings to Control Report Headers and Footers
Because your Web browser prints the reports from Harvest Webstation, it is not possible to have Harvest Webstation break the report into separate pages or print header and footer information. However, most Web browsers allow you to customize the header and footer information that appears at the top and bottom of each page you print.
Using this feature, you may add custom text and/or use one or more codes to automatically print information, such as the window title, date, time, page number, etc., as the header or footer of your reports. See the example below.
Note that whatever you add to the header or footer will appear on all pages you print through your Web browser, including any Web pages you view outside of Harvest Webstation.
Example: Adding the Patient Name, Sample ID, and Page Numbers to Your Reports
Using the customizable header and footer settings, you may set up your Web browser to print in the header the title of the window you are viewing (e.g., the title of the report page in Harvest Webstation). You may also wish to set up the footer to print "Page x of y" to help organize multi-page reports.
To include the patient name, sample ID, and page numbers on your printed Harvest Webstation reports, follow the steps below for the web browser you use.
Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 7.0):
- Select File>Page Setup from the Internet Explorer menu. This opens the Page Setup window.
- Enter &w into the Header field on the window to change the caption printed at the top of each page. Internet Explorer will left-align this information, unless you use additional codes to modify the alignment (see below).
This tells Internet Explorer to print the window title caption at the top of each printed page. Since Harvest Webstation includes the patient's name and sample ID in the title of the window, if you use this setting, then the patient's name and sample ID will appear on each page of the report.
- Enter Page &p of &P into the Footer field on the window to print "Page 1 of 3," "Page 2 of 3," etc. at the bottom of each page. Internet Explorer will left-align this information, unless you use additional codes to modify the alignment (see below).
- To view a list of all of the codes available for the header or footer (including codes to align the information), right-click on the Header or Footer fields.
- Click OK to save your changes. Remember that whatever you add to the header or footer will appear on all pages you print through Internet Explorer, including any Web pages you view outside of Harvest Webstation.
Mozilla Firefox:
- Select File>Page Setup from the Firefox menu. This opens the Page Setup window.
- Select the Margins & Header/Footer tab.
- In the Headers & Footers section, you may define up to three elements in both the header and the footer. The top set of drop-down fields control the header, and the bottom set of drop-down fields control the footer.
- Select the "Title" option in one of the three header drop-down fields. Firefox will align the information based on whether you make your selection in the Left, Center, or Right fields.
This tells Firefox to print the window title caption at the top of each printed page. Since Harvest Webstation includes the patient's name and sample ID in the title of the window, if you use this setting, then the patient's name and sample ID will appear on each page of the report.
- Select the "Page # of #" option in one of the three footer drop-down fields. Firefox will align the information based on whether you make your selection in the Left, Center, or Right fields.
- To enter additional information in the header or footer, select one or more other elements in the other header and footer drop-down fields.
- Click OK to save your changes. Remember that whatever you add to the header or footer will appear on all pages you print through Firefox, including any Web pages you view outside of Harvest Webstation.
