This feature, which is used on the Order Samples
page, must be enabled in Harvest.
If you have the Live Demographics Link feature enabled, you may enter
an ID for a patient in the Patient or ID field, which will cause
Harvest Webstation to search a remote location for the corresponding
patient data.
- If Harvest Webstation finds the selected patient's record, then the
remote location will send Harvest Webstation the patient demographic
information and the Location, Provider, and Phlebotomist
fields are filled in automatically.
- If Harvest Webstation is not able to find the patient's record in
the remote location, then you will be alerted to that fact and the Edit Patient page appears that allows you to create,
view, or edit information for the selected patient.
- If Harvest Webstation cannot find the remote location, then you will
be alerted that there was no response to the demographics server and
any possible matches from the local database will be filled in (if there
is only one match), displayed in a list (if there is more than one match),
or the Edit Patient page appears that allows
you to create, view, or edit information for the selected patient. Select
an entry from the list (if applicable), and continue placing the order.
You may also choose to return to the Order Entry page and try to search
for a different patient.
When you have the Live Demographics Link feature enabled but you want
to search the local database for the demographic information rather than
searching a remote location, enter a pound sign (#) in front of the patient
name in the Patient or ID field. You may then continue placing the order.
