As you use the Order Samples: Patient & Order Choices page, Harvest Webstation attempts to simplify data entry by updating the provider, phlebotomist, draw location, and order location fields based on your preferences and the selections you make.

How Harvest Webstation Automatically Fills the Personnel and Location Fields

Harvest Webstation follows several steps in filling the personnel and location fields on the Order Samples: Patient & Order Choices page, both before and during order entry.

1. When you first open the Order Samples: Patient & Order Choices page, or when you save or clear an order, Harvest Webstation uses the pre-selection options and the personnel/location links defined in Harvest to determine the contents of the personnel and location drop-down fields. Depending on these options, the Provider, Phlebotomist, Draw Location, and Order Location fields may or may not contain a selection, as you may set Harvest Webstation to keep the selections from the previous order, clear the fields, or use the linked locations.
• Keep previous selection: This is the default. If this is selected, Harvest Webstation retains the last selected value after the order is saved or cleared.
• Select nothing in the menu: If this is selected, Harvest Webstation clears the last selected value after the order is saved or cleared. However, if you are linked to order or draw locations, then Harvest Webstation will clear the field(s) and then re-enter your linked location(s).
• Select linked location: (Draw Location and Order Location fields only) If this is selected, Harvest Webstation sets the Draw Location and/or Order Location fields in the following order after the order is saved or cleared:
  • If the selected provider has linked order or draw locations, then Harvest Webstation sets the fields to those linked location(s).
  • If the selected provider does not have linked order or draw locations, but you (the current signed in user) are linked to order or draw locations, then Harvest Webstation sets the fields to your linked location(s).
  • If you are not linked to order or draw locations, but the phlebotomist is linked to order or draw locations, then Harvest Webstation sets the fields to the phlebotomist’s linked location(s).

Remember that changes to the provider or phlebotomist fields in the steps following this one may reset the Draw Location and/or Order Location fields.

2. When you select the patient for whom you are placing the order, Harvest Webstation determines whether the patient is linked to a provider. If the patient is linked to a provider and if that provider is linked to a draw or order location, then Harvest Webstation updates the Draw Location and/or Order Location fields.
3. If you change the selected provider or phlebotomist manually, and if the provider or phlebotomist is linked to a draw or order location, then Harvest Webstation updates the Draw Location and/or Order Location fields.
